Dear Friends ~

I hope this message finds you well in these first weeks of spring. Life is full for us here in the City of Love, so much so that I haven’t posted, it seems, since last spring.  But here it is, nearly time for Pesach/Passover and the Omer count– I cannot stay away. One of my dearest, closest Omer companions wrote to me the other day to say the time is drawing near and she has not heard anything about how I will share the counting of the forty-nine days–what gives?

From my front garden now.

Ahhh…thank goodness for friends who call me to account! I told my friend that with the the work I’ve committed to in Philadelphia politics and the new leadership that Wendy and I have taken on this year for our local synagogue, not to mention the monthly journeys to Syracuse to keep company with Wendy’s ninety-seven year old father, I wasn’t sure what I could add to my plate. I would take the question into my chants and silent prayers on Shabbat. And so I did.

It is amazing how the voice of guidance comes readily when we ask with open hearts and are then quiet enough to listen.

Here is my Omer offering for 5783 (2023):

The recordings of the daily letters in Through the Gates–the Second Omer Journey are complete and ready to be sent out, as I have been doing for the past two years. For those who choose to receive the recordings this year, I will again schedule them to arrive in your inboxes every evening, beginning on the second night of Passover, Thursday, April 6. This year I will add one newly written letter each week of the Omer.

I welcome the discipline and the opportunity to reflect in community. There are things, friends, I really do need to write about, and your companionship will help me explore. If you choose, you will receive links to the recorded daily messages from The Second Omer Journey and a new letter during each week of the Omer. I don’t know on which days the new letters will come or what they will include–that’s an adventure! I will let the sephirot, the divine energies each week, work through me and see what wants to come through this year.

If these offerings appeal to you this year, let me know by replying YES to this email. I’ll take it from here. You will receive the first recorded message from the book on the evening of April 6 and a newly written letter in your inbox sometime during the first week of he Omer count, the week of Chesed (Unconditional Love).  You may drop a donation (multiples of $18 are good) now or at any time along the way.

Questions? Contact me. I’m here.

Much love and sweet liberation throughout this luminous season,

Blessings,

Susan

Upcoming Events

  • All year long, at the time of the new moon, Susan and spouse Wendy Galson lead Rosh Hodesh rituals with Kohennet Shoshana Bricklin. These circles are offered as a program of MIshkan Shalom Synagogue but are open to all who are open to the wisdom of the Divine Feminine. Since the Pandemic urged the leaders into an online platform, the gatherings have grown and drawn participants from coast to coast.  Each ritual includes chant, poetry, and opportunities for deep sharing around the themes of the Jewish month.  Anyone who would like to be included on the Rosh Hodesh at Mishkan Shalom listserv should contact Susan.
